Hello to all of you!!! We hope you and your family and friends are doing fine. Little by little we are all going back to the "normal" life we had before but remember to be very careful.
It's almost time to say goodbye to another school year, filled with lovely memories and experiences that will stay in our heart forever. And since the summer holidays are almost here, we would like to end our weekly English lessons with a very catchy and funny story-song called "Chicka ChickaBoom Boom".
How many small letters do you think can fit up the coconut tree? Too many! This is an alphabet rhyme where all the letters of the alphabet race each other up the coconut tree. The lower-case letters (minúsculas) climb a coconut tree in alphabetical order, until the tree bends so much, causing all 26 letters to tumble out of the tree. Capital letters (mayúsculas) come to help them. The book describes each alphabet letter's injury. It is a great story to review or to begin to recognize the letters of the English alphabet.
Some yoga poses with the letters of the alphabet sounds like fun, don't you think?
Or how about playing some letter games on this website called Starfall?
Some of the activities related to the story are the following:
Get ready to play: Go outside and learn making letters in nature. Using rocks, sticks, flower petals, etc. create or find things in nature with the shapes of the letters. These are some examples I made with my son Martín during our walks together...
And as a final school year challenge you can look around your house to create your very own English alphabet!!! Find objects in your house, with the help of a grown-up, a make your personalised abc, please don't forget to send us your pictures!
Time to say goodbye kiddies...We hope you like this week's story and enjoy singing your ABCs.
Don't forget to send us your photos, they are fantastic and it's lovely to see you every week.
We miss you a lot, tons of hugs and kisses from your English Teachers💕
HERE ARE YOUR PHOTOS FROM THESE WEEK'S STORIES, YOU HAVE DONE A GREAT JOB!!!
Hello super champions!!! How are you feeling today? We hope you are full of energy and ready to practise some sports and learn about an important event: The Olympic Games!!!
The Olympic Games are celebrated every 4 years, this year 2020 was Tokyo's turn to host the games. They have now been postponed to next year 2021.
There are Summer and Winter Olympics and the sports played in each are different.
The five colors of the Olympic rings (blue, black, green, yellow and red) were chosen because every country in the world has at least one of those colors in their flag. The rings represent 5 of the world's continents🌎: Africa, Asia, Oceania, Europe and America, linked together in friendship.
At the beginning of the games a flame🔥 is lit in the opening ceremony. The flame begins in Olympia (Greece) and is passed from torch to torch until the location of the games is reached.
Men and women from all over the world compete to win the gold🥇, silver 🥈 and bronze 🥉 medals.
There is usually an Olympic mascot that represents the games and the country they are celebrated in. When the Olympic Games were celebrated in Barcelona in 1992 we had an olympic mascot named Cobi.
Some of the activities you can do related to the Olympic Games are the following:
Colouring any of these olympic themed pictures:
Some arts and crafts with the olympic symbols:
Counting and adding to revise numbers:
*Para estas worksheets necesitáis tener unos dados para jugar. La de las medallas es para identificar y decir el número que sale en el dado y la de los aros se juega con dos dados haciendo la suma entre los dos números que salen. Para repasar la suma diríamos por ejemplo: (4 + 5 = 9) four plus five equals 9 nine.
Play memory with these sports cards:
Imagine you are an olympic athlete and you will compete next year in Tokyo 2021, draw and write about your flag, your event or sport and what would you do to celebrate your win:
Here is some inspiration and remember that the games never end!!!:
We hope you have fun this week learning about the Olympic Games and practising different sports...who knows, maybe some day you become a famous athlete and win a medal!!! For us you have been true champions these past months, we will always be very proud of all of you🏆.
Lots of love and take care,
Your English Teachers💗
